Business in a Box is a collection of interactive workshops designed for pupils ranging from 13-18 and is part of a bigger outreach provision from the Business School.
The workshops range in duration and involvement, but all map to areas of key stage curricula and thus add value to what you are teaching pupils in the classroom, and provides a taster of what and how we do things at the Business School. As the initiative gathers pace, we’ll be making bigger boxes to provide teaching resources so that you can have some ready-made workshops and teaching tools to deliver this in your own institution.

Each workshop has been developed by university academics to bring to life specific topic areas which are taught at the Business School and are designed to be run as short immersive sessions around 90 minutes. Workshops cover business enterprise, operations management, events, project planning, finance, computing, tourism, human resource management, marketing and digital marketing.
The workshops can be extended though and each has a specific range of session extensions that you can choose if you wish to cover more curricula areas and make more of a day out rather than half day.
If you would like to discuss the workshop provision or are ready to book a session please contact Lionel Bunting (l.bunting@chi.ac.uk) at the Business School who will be happy to help plan out and book in an event with you.
What happens on the day?
You’ll be welcomed on campus by one of our Student Ambassadors and given a tour of the campus and receive a briefing from them about student life.
We can even add in dedicated time to your day to look at the process of applying to university, what makes a good personal statement and even a finance talk.
For small groups on certain workshop we might be able to provide a working lunch too.
Where do the workshops take place?
The workshops are designed to be delivered on the University’s Bognor Regis Campus to enable your pupils to experience university life and engage in learning away from their usual place of study.
This works better for pupil engagement and acts as an experiential activity in the calendar for them to work toward; teachers have used it as motivation in their classrooms.
What if we want it delivered at our institution?
One or two of the workshops are portable and can be delivered away from the University.

These workshops have also been tweaked to enable delivery to larger participant numbers, but this is only possible for one or two of the portfolio of workshops.
What is the cost?
There is no cost to the school/college for participating in one of the workshops, this is all covered by the Business School as part of our community commitment.
You would need to get your students to the University campus and bring along a packed lunch or money to spend at the on-site food hall or Costa concession.
